The Bachelors cycle lasts three years. It is considered complete when the candidate has validated all the teaching units and achieved 180 corresponding credits.
The Master cycle lasts two years. To obtain the Master's degree, the candidate must validate the cycle of teaching units and defend the research paper at the end of the second year. The number of credits for this cycle is 120.
As for the cycle Doctorate PHD, it takes at least three years. The training is based on thematic, scientific and transversal seminars, scientific productions, research stays abroad and the defense of a thesis. These activities enable to capitalize 180 credits needed to obtain the title of doctor.
Academic cycles are all degrees in learning knowledge and practices related to a given field of activity and so many stages after which the student should achieve a high degree of autonomy. Furthermore, the cycles result in a continuous increase of the link between teaching and research in training programs.
In the second cycle, students must integrate, extend and deepen the knowledge acquired at the undergraduate level, assimilate new knowledge and develop skills that make it able to engage creatively in a particular field of activity.
In the third cycle, the student needs to strengthen his/her ability to interpret critically the data related to his specialization, to apply autonomously and originally principles and research methods specific to his/her field, to devise new research practices or intervention, to pursue original research independently and present a complex problem, both orally and in writing. The IUDI offers a type of program that leads to the Doctor of philosophy degree (Ph.D.) and another type of program that leads to a doctoral degree in a field of knowledge.
